Annotate PDF

Annotate a PDF: highlight text, draw, add text notes and boxes in five colours, with undo. Free, private, in your browser.

Mark up documents for review, study or feedback: highlight important passages, circle or frame things, scribble with a pen and add short notes — on a computer, tablet or phone.

Annotations are drawn into the pages when you save, so they look the same in every PDF reader. Your file never leaves your device.

How to use Annotate PDF

  1. Click “Choose PDF file” or drop your PDF onto the page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the annotations later in another program?

They are drawn into the page, which makes them look the same everywhere but means they can't be edited as separate comments later. Keep your original file if you might want to change them.

Which characters can I type in notes?

Latin letters and common symbols. Other scripts such as Hindi or Chinese are not supported in notes yet.

Can I annotate on a tablet with a pen?

Yes — choose Draw and write with the stylus or your finger.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your device.
