Compare PDF Files

Compare two PDF files: see added and removed words page by page, or overlay pages to spot visual changes. Download a report. Private.

Check contract revisions, document versions and proofs without reading every line twice. See exactly which words were added or removed on each page, or overlay the pages to spot any visual change — moved text, new images, changed numbers.

Both files are compared on your own device. They are never uploaded, so confidential drafts stay confidential.

How to use Compare PDF Files

  1. Choose the original PDF (A) and the changed version (B).
  2. Read the text changes: removed words in red, added words in green, page by page.
  3. Switch to “Visual changes” to see changed areas in red — useful for layouts and scanned documents.
  4. Click “Download report” to save a PDF of all differences.

Frequently asked questions

Which file should be A and which B?

A is the older or original version, B the newer one. Words only in A are shown as removed, words only in B as added.

Can I compare scanned PDFs?

Yes, with “Visual changes”. Text comparison needs real text, which scans don't have.

What if a page was inserted?

Pages are compared in order (page 1 with page 1, and so on), so an inserted page makes the following pages look changed. Check the page counts shown in the summary.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Both PDFs are read and compared by your own browser.
