Unlock PDF

Remove the password from a PDF you can open, or remove printing and copying restrictions. Decrypted in your browser, never uploaded.

Stop typing the password every time you open your own documents, and remove restrictions that block printing or copying. Enter the password once and save an unlocked copy.

Decryption runs on your own device; the file and the password are never uploaded. This tool can't break or guess passwords — you need to know the password to remove it.

Frequently asked questions

I forgot the password. Can you unlock it?

No. This tool doesn't crack passwords. If you've lost the password, ask the person who sent you the file.

The PDF opens without a password but I can't print it. Can this help?

Yes — such PDFs only have restrictions. The tool detects this and removes them without asking for a password. Only do this for documents you're allowed to change (see our Acceptable Use Policy).

Is my password sent anywhere?

No. The password is used by your own browser to decrypt the file and is never sent or stored.

Does unlocking change the content?

No. Pages, text and images stay exactly the same — only the encryption is removed.
