PDF Metadata Remover

See and remove hidden PDF metadata — author, title, software, dates and XMP data — or edit it. Free and private, in your browser.

PDF files often carry hidden details: the author's name, the company, the software used and when the file was created and changed. Check what your PDF reveals and remove it — or correct it — before you share the file.

The PDF is inspected and cleaned on your own device. It is never uploaded, which matters most for exactly the kind of document you want to clean.

Frequently asked questions

What is PDF metadata?

Information stored inside the file about the document, such as its title, author, the app and PDF software that made it, and creation and modification dates. Readers show it under File → Properties.

What is XMP metadata?

A second, hidden copy of the document details in XML form, often with extra history. Many tools forget to remove it; this one removes it when you tick “Remove”.

Does it remove everything that could identify me?

It removes the document properties. Names can also appear in the page text, comments or images — check those too before sharing.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The file is read and cleaned in your browser on your device.
